EUFORQUESTRA - Headliner

6:00 - 8:00 PM

Euroquestra MySpace Page

Eufórquestra is an eclectic world-beat ensemble from Iowa City, IA with interests in different cultural and traditional musics from all over the globe. The band has made a mission statement out of preserving different traditions, undescriminatingly trying anything at least once and fusing different styles that appeal to them. The self-proclaimed “Afro-Caribbean-Barnyard-Funk” touches on such genres as Afrobeat, Afro-Cuban, Samba, Soca, Calypso, Funk, Reggae, and Bluegrass.

Though the band is relatively new, they have already been on extensive tours playing in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Idaho and Montana, and have played such festivals as moe. Summer Camp, Carbondale Mountain Fair, Sweat Pea Festival, Spookstock (Schwagstock), Euphio Campout and Wakarusa. In addition to these festivals, Eufórquestra hosts its own annual celebration of community and music (Camp Euforia), which has grown over the last four years from a one day party to a full blown music festival. This year’s festival has expanded to two days and features two stages hosting 17 bands on the local, regional and national circuits (including Eufórquestra, Public Property, Chicago Afrobeat Project, Cornmeal, Family Groove Company and much more).

What makes this band special is that something new is always being performed by Eufórquestra as new projects drive the band into further musical studies. For example, after months of research and composition the band recorded and released “Explorations in Afrobeat” in March 2006. Later that year, the majority of the Fall was spent preparing for a Halloween tribute to the Talking Heads with a fully costumed and choreographed performance of David Byrne’s 1984 cult-classic “Stop Making Sense”. Check out Eufórquestra. You’ll hear something new, you’ll dance, and you’ll be sure to have a good time.

The PorchLights
2:15- 3:30 PM

The PorchLights MySpace Page

The Porchlights came to be after many late-night back porch jam sessions and open mics turned into benefit concerts and coffee house gigs. Deb Hilton met Billy Kneebone at one of her first open mics at Charly’s in Flagstaff. The two hit it off musically and began writing songs together in the Spring of 1999. Now, with 4 albums of original material under their belts, The Porchlights are happily at work on their 5th release titled Peace Pipe Dream, which will be complete (fingers crossed) by Summertime ’08. The Porchlights are passionate about writing, recording, performing live & traveling. You can find them playing at the theatres, taverns, restaurants, brewerys, acoustic music venues and coffeehouses all over the Southwest.

Formula 151
12:15- 1:30 PM

Formula 151 MySpace Page

Launched by Dave Mensch in 2004, Formula 151 offers a sound unique in today's contemporary music. Formula 151 takes its listeners on a melodic and lyrical journey, incorporating dynamic arrangements written by Mensch. A more atypical aspect of Formula 151, setting the band apart from most other contemporary groups, is the inclusion of cellist Tischhauser. Mensch has a strong affinity for stringed instruments and the resonance, passion and depth they bring to a song, so he requested that Tischhauser, who was more readily known locally for her classical work, to join the band.

The Galloping Goooses

10:30- 11:45 AM
The Galloping Gooses are a band of 3 that cover a wide range of material on numerous instruments. With roots in country western, old time, bluegrass and folk music, the Gooses offer an original take on numerous classics and offer some quality original material as well. The band consists of Andy Hutchinson on guitar, banjo and vocals; Glenn Smith on guitar, mandolin and vocals and Charla Nettleton on bass, guitar and vocals. With two members residing in Dolores and one in McElmo Canyon, the Gooses are glad to have the chance to play the Dolores River Festival! Hope to see you there.
